Example: the same three fertilizers as in Kruskal-Wallis, which signalled some difference. Which pairs of fertilizers actually differ? Change the values to work out your own case.
Step by step
What each term means
- Pair z Statistic
- How many standard errors separate two groups' mean ranks. Compared with the normal, it gives the pair's p-value, which is then adjusted for the number of comparisons.
- Difference in Mean Ranks
- The ranks are the same as in Kruskal-Wallis: all values sorted together.
- Standard Error
- It depends on the total N and the size of the two groups. With ties, a correction term is subtracted.
