Example: a car drives from one town to another at 60 km/h and comes back the same way at 40 km/h. What was the average speed of the trip? Change the values to work out your own case.

What each term means
- Harmonic Mean (H)
- A kind of average suited to sets of rates, such as speeds. It is the number of observations divided by the sum of the reciprocals of each observation.
- Total Number of Observations (n)
- The total count of values or observations in the data.
- Sum of the Reciprocals (Σ 1/xᵢ)
- The sum of the inverse of each value (xᵢ) in the data. The reciprocal of a number is 1 divided by that number.
